At Devereux Florida, we know the care we provide for thousands of children and families would not be possible without our hard-working, skilled direct care professionals. Each year, Devereux Florida shows its gratitude during “Direct Care Professionals Appreciation Week.” This year, the team’s thanks and recognition at the Viera Campus came in the form of suds and sponges, as everyone from program coordinators to therapists to Executive Director Steve Murphy rolled up their sleeves and washed the direct care team’s cars. Devereux Florida Receives Joint Commission Reaccreditation
Several years ago, Devereux Florida became one of the first organizations accredited in behavioral healthcare. It was quite an accomplishment at the time. Since then, only 10% of providers in the behavioral healthcare industry accomplish Joint Commission Accreditation.
Most recently Devereux Florida underwent a reaccreditation survey. Thanks to the dedication of our team members, as well as the entire Quality Management Team, all Devereux Florida programs completed successful Joint Commission surveys. All of Devereux Florida programs had to demonstrate adherence to over 1,600 elements of performance outlined by The Joint Commission. Read More

Back-to-School Celebrations Delight Devereux Florida Kids
Preparing for the event, Carmen Mercado and Sylvia Rodrigues folded more
than 200 pairs of new pajamas, which were donated by Carter’s and OshKosh.
What better way to celebrate going back to school than with food, fun and shopping for that perfect “first day” outfit? At Devereux Florida’s Back-to-School Open House, held Aug. 24 at the Family Counseling Center, about 60 foster children and their foster families did just that. As
the Devereux team led fun activities for the kids, parents filled free tote bags with donated clothing, toys and supplies. "It was a wonderful opportunity for foster parents to interact with the staff that supports them each day," said Devereux Florida Program Director Tia Llewellyn. Read More

Kids Ready for School Thanks to Annual Backpack Drive
To achieve academic success, students must come to school prepared. That’s why Devereux Florida hosted an annual backpack drive. This year, the drive received a considerable donation boost more than $1,300 in cash and in-kind gifts from UCF’s Cornerstone students. In all, more than 2,100 backpacks were donated to Devereux Florida’s kids. Not only were the packs filled with school supplies, but many were specially created for elementary school children with encouraging good luck cards. Devereux thanks volunteers such as Board Member Ann Price, as well as Lena Combs and Valerie
Smith for making the drive such a success. Click here to support programs like this one that benefit
