Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health programs embrace four significant essentials of treatment: family engagement, functional behavior assessment, trauma-informed care and positive behavior support.
Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports and Trauma Informed Care
Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health embraces a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports/Trauma Informed Care (PBIS-TIC) approach. PBIS-TIC is research supported, emphasizing prevention and intervention based on a careful assessment and understanding of behavior. Teaching alternative or replacement behaviors is a critical feature of PBIS-TIC as is the use of data for effective treatment decisions. PBIS-TIC promotes an effective environment that facilitates positive interactions among staff and the individuals we serve.
Research tells us that individuals who have experienced trauma are at greater risk of being re-traumatized, and therefore any treatment program must be "trauma informed." Our "trauma-informed" individualized treatment approach is designed to promote emotional safety and healing.
We focus on mutual respect, shared decision-making, and establishing clear roles and expectations within the individual's environment. As part of our PBIS-TIC system of care, we complete comprehensive assessments to determine appropriate levels of supervision and individualized treatment planning to meet each individual's need and level of risk.
Family engagement is one of the most important building blocks in successful treatment and outcomes.
