School & Education

Devereux’s on-site accredited school offers small class size and access to regular and special education services. In addition, youth can participate in tutoring services as needed. Older youth can participate in career technical education services to explore the world of work and to define their interests and job skills. They have the opportunity to participate in “real life” work settings such as food service, information technology and cosmetology. These work experiences provide an individualized program promoting teamwork, individuality, and the achievement of personal goals. Youth may earn a job readiness certificate that is nationally recognized by employers.

Our school (Devereux Ackerman Academy) is a Title 1 school.

Title I is a federally funded program, which provides services to schools, based on student economic needs. Title I is the largest Federal Assistance Program for our Nation’s schools. The goal is to provide a high quality education for every child, so the program provides extra help to students who need it the most.

Please review the Title I documents listed below and if you have any questions or concerns, please call or email Jessica Rhodes @ 770-427-0147 ext. 3204. Our school email address is AckermanAcademy@devereux.org.

At Devereux Ackerman Academy, we believe that families are valuable members of the community and your opinions and suggestions regarding education of your child are important to the success of our school. As partners in your child’s education, your input is valued. Cobb County School District Title I Department appreciates the partnerships we have with our families. As the parent/guardian of a child attending a Title I school you are an important part of the Title I team. Your input is vital in the planning and implementation of the family engagement program and activities in our schools and those provided by the District. The focus of all Title I programs is to help eligible students meet the same high academic achievement standards expected of all children, regardless of their socioeconomic status and background. The following surveys are confidential and will be used to assist us with future planning for family engagement initiatives and events.

We appreciate your feedback and thank you for taking the time to complete these surveys.

I give the school high marks for communicating with me about my child’s progress. Even though I live too far away to visit as often as I would like, I always feel informed and know what is going on.
