Devereux Pocono awarded $5,000 grant to support COVID-19 response efforts

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Pocono was recently awarded a $5,000 grant to support staff, as well as the individuals and families served by the organization, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The grant, from the Scranton Area Community Foundation’s NEPA COVID-19 Response Fund, will help team members continue to provide high-quality, safe and effective care and service for children, adolescents and adults living with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences. Funds from the grant will be used to:

  • Purchase cleaning supplies and life-saving Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as face masks, face shields, gowns, gloves and hand sanitizer for front-line staff, as well as the individuals served by the organization
  • Purchase electronic devices, including laptops, tablets and smartphones to help team members provide telehealth services
  • Cover payrolls costs for recruiting and retaining essential employees

“We are grateful to the Scranton Area Community Foundation and its donors and partners for their generous support through the NEPA COVID-19 Response Fund,” said Devereux Pocono Executive Director Tina Skoda. “Nothing is more important than the health and safety of our youth and adults, as well as our outstanding employees who have shown incredible courage, strength and resilience during this challenging time. These funds will allow us to sustain our essential services as we continue to help those in our care thrive and achieve their full potential.”

About the NEPA COVID-19 Response Fund …

The Scranton Area Community Foundation established the NEPA COVID-19 Response Fund in late March to provide “immediate, responsive and flexible resources” to nonprofits impacted by COVID-19.

To date, the NEPA COVID-19 Response Fund has distributed more than $1 million to 132 organizations throughout northeastern Pennsylvania.
