League City, Texas – October 11, 2019 – Houston decided to release the fall weather and let contestants enjoy a beautiful day of golf for the 17th Annual Divots for Devereux Golf Classic.

Golfers, volunteers and other supporters of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Texas experienced Houston’s premiere golf facility, Wildcat Golf Club. After an afternoon of golf, chipping contests and hole-in-one challenges, guests were then treated to a delicious meal, and a lively evening of auctions and awards.

This annual tournament raises much-needed funds for the Devereux School and scholarship program. Since its inception, the tournament has been able to fund 128 scholarships.

Congratulations to the tournament champions Justin McKay, Wally Holmes, Chris Morris and Kyle Holmes. In addition, the winning team will have their names on the coveted “V-Cup trophy, named after Dr. Carolyn Villarrubia, Devereux Texas’ executive medical director.

The team winning Second Place went to Tom Robson, Greg Christmann and Peter Johnson. The Third Place team went to Glenn Russum, Jeff Waltzer, Patrick Schoenvogel and Derrick Hammer.

Peter Johnson won the Longest Drive Challenge once again, and Glenn Russum won the Closest to the Pin contest.

The helicopter ball drop, thanks to sponsor Wally Holmes with Cabo Construction, went off with flying success. Miriam Cogswell ball fell from the helicopter and landed closet to the pin making her the lucky winner of the $500 cash prize!

The live auction was definitely the highlight of the evening, with David Snediker winning the biggest prize, the Lexus Champions of Charity Golf Tournament package in December. Players can play in this exclusive tournament only through a nonprofit package that was provided by Lexus. Other live auction highlights included a Viva Las Vegas getaway, Hunters Weekend at Crews 140 Ranch, a night in the South Shore Harbour Resort Penthouse suite with a dinner party for 10 at Opus Steakhouse, and an offshore fishing charter for six.

Devereux Texas Executive Director Pam Reed extends her gratitude to Lexus of Clear Lake, the event’s title sponsor for the seventeen year in a row. The Houston Bay Area auto dealership has helped Devereux Texas raise more than $435,000 since the golf tournament’s inception.

Pam also thanked the evening’s attendees and sponsors for opening their hearts to Devereux’s deserving adolescents.

“Your generosity has an unquantifiable impact on those in our care, allowing us to provide life-changing treatments. We absolutely could not do it without you.” said Pam, “Thank you for helping Devereux continue our mission of unlocking human potential for individuals in need of mental health support.
