Assessment and Consultation

Devereux Consultants (DevCon) positively impacts the lives of nearly 500 children, adolescents and adults with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences every year. As part of our continuum of care, DevCon provides assessment services to a host of individuals from early childhood through the lifespan.

Our New Jersey licensed clinical psychology team has expertise providing comprehensive psychological evaluations for the diagnosis and treatment planning of children, adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, attentional disorders, learning disabilities, genetic disorders, behavioral disturbances and psychiatric disorders.

We pride ourselves in helping to determine the strengths and needs of each individual we serve. We create individualized assessments for those with behavioral challenges, psychiatric disturbances, learning differences, limited verbal skills and profound cognitive impairment. Our assessments are designed to answer specific questions and offer recommendations for strengthening an individual’s unique academic, behavioral, social and emotional functioning.

Our evaluations can be applied in various settings to assist with identifying appropriate support services. Such settings include: state assisted aide, school-based settings, specifically, for section 504 Plan accommodations, Individualized Education Program (IEP) recommendations, Response to Intervention (RTI) supportive services, and best practice teaching and training strategies. In addition, our assessments can assist in providing guidance for psychological treatment.

Assessment Steps:

• Intake interview with parent/youth/school staff and review of all records
• Implementation of behavior rating scales/checklists
• Administration of standardized psychometrics; assessments used will vary based on need
• Feedback session

School-Based Services

Devereux Consultants (DevCon) provides a continuum of care for children and adults, ages 5 through lifespan, with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences, including autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), and medical challenges.

If you are a provider or agency leader in need of consultation services and/or training, our DevCon clinical team can help. We come to you, on-demand, to deliver individualized ABA and mental health training strategies and workshops that staff can apply in your programs immediately.

In addition, we deliver targeted ABA therapies to students in need. We come to your school district and your community. Our clinical staff works with each student’s care team to design and deliver ABA therapies that can deliver positive outcomes immediately.

DevCon’s mental health services are second to none. They include comprehensive psychological evaluations, individual psychological counseling and social skills group training. Areas of specialization include: autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, depression, intellectual impairment, developmental delay, learning differences and ADHD.
