Dr. Carla Galusha named clinical director at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Texas

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health today announced that Carla Galusha, Ph.D., has been named clinical director at Devereux Texas, effective immediately.

League City, Texas – October 8, 2021 – Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, one of the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit providers of behavioral healthcare, today announced that Carla Galusha, Ph.D., has been named clinical director at Devereux Texas, effective immediately.

In her new role, Dr. Galusha – who previously served as clinical director at Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg, Va. – will provide clinical oversight of Devereux Texas’ continuum of care. She will be responsible for implementing and supporting evidence-based practices and clinical initiatives across the organization’s League City and Victoria campuses, which serve more than 350 individuals living with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences every year.

“Carla brings more than 20 years of behavioral healthcare experience to this role, and we are delighted to have her on our team,” said Devereux Texas Executive Director Pamela Reed. “Throughout her career, she has worked in a variety of treatment settings, including inpatient, correctional and community-based settings. Her knowledge and expertise in providing high-quality, compassionate care to individuals in need make her a perfect fit for this position as we work to help the children, adolescents and adults we serve lead more fulfilling lives.”

About Carla Galusha, Ph.D.

Prior to joining Devereux Texas, Carla Galusha, Ph.D., served as clinical director at Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg, Va. She also maintained a private practice and taught graduate level courses as an adjunct professor at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Galusha is recognized as an expert in forensic and clinical psychology, and has been qualified as an expert witness in state and federal courts. She frequently presents at professional conferences on topics related to clinical practice, assessment and supervision, and has published several scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Galusha received her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Arizona State University, before going on to earn her master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology with specialized training in forensics from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.

She honed her skills in acute care and crisis intervention, while completing her internship and post-doctoral training at Wyoming State Hospital. Much of her work as a clinician and supervisor has focused on the provision of evidence-based, trauma-informed care. Galusha’s passion for the behavioral healthcare field has extended to teaching and supervising clinicians and student clinicians. She has developed and implemented several training programs and therapeutic programs. As an adjunct professor, she has taught graduate courses in psychopathology, psychological assessment, psychopharmacology and professional ethics.
