Candidate RequirementsApplicants must have a broad academic base of training, be admitted to doctoral candidacy and have at least 400 hours of supervised practicum experience appropriate to the applied practice of professional psychology, including assessment (100 hours) and intervention (300 hours). Pre-Employment QualificationsDevereux’s doctoral internship program candidates will be informed of the credentialing process required before a formal offer of employment can be extended. Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health’s credentialing process may include any, or all, of the following:
Expenses associated with these screening procedures are covered by Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health. Additionally, doctoral interns working at some Devereux centers will need to complete health screenings, to include a physical and a Mantoux test. As a large healthcare organization, Devereux may require all employees, to include interns, to obtain vaccines consistent with Devereux policy, and/or state, federal, and local mandates. Intern’s transcripts and references, submitted as part of their APPIC application, will be reviewed by Devereux’s People Operations department in addition to internship program supervisors. The doctoral internship training program follows the Drug-Free Workplace policy of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health. The Drug-Free Workplace policy strictly prohibits the possession, manufacture, sale, purchase, distribution or use of prohibited substances in the workplace. Additionally, staff members are prohibited from appearing for work under the influence of prohibited substances. The foregoing does not apply to an employee’s use of medication that is prescribed by a licensed healthcare practitioner, or by over the counter medication, so long as the use of either is in accordance with the product label, the instructions of the employee’s licensed healthcare provider, and does not result in any sort of impairment. Applicants are required to disclose their use of medication or substance that could influence or impair performance or behavior prior to required pre-employment drug testing. Additionally, Devereux requires background clearances as required by law or agency regulators which complies with regulatory, licensing and accreditation requirements.
