Devereux Florida youth treated to unforgettable prom experience at ‘Night to Shine’

Youth from Devereux Florida were treated to an unforgettable prom experience at “Night to Shine,” a worldwide event sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation.

Each year, the Tim Tebow Foundation partners with churches around the world to offer individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities an evening of music, dancing and fun.

Devereux Florida youth, along with hundreds of other prom guests, were crowned kings and queens before hitting the dance floor to show off their best moves.

Youth from Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Florida experienced all of the glitz and glamour of a traditional prom during “Night to Shine,” a worldwide event sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation.

Each year, the foundation partners with churches around the world to offer individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities an unforgettable evening of music, dancing and fun.

This year, 15 Devereux Florida youth – dressed to impress – arrived by limousine at First Baptist Church in Windermere, Fla., where they walked the red carpet as supporters cheered them on from behind red velvet ropes.

The youth, along with hundreds of other prom guests, were crowned kings and queens before hitting the dance floor to show off their best moves.

“To see our community and faith-based partners come together to provide such a special night for the individuals we serve  – many of whom have never had the opportunity to attend prom  – was extraordinary,” said Devereux Florida Manager of External Affairs Lindsey Phillips. “Between the limousine arrival and red carpet entrance, it truly was a night for all in attendance to shine. Our youth said they ‘felt like stars.’” .

About the Tim Tebow Foundation …

In 2010, former NFL quarterback and current professional baseball player Tim Tebow created the Tim Tebow Foundation, whose mission is “to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.”

The foundation launched Night to Shine in 2014. Approximately 7,000 guests with special needs attended the first event, which was held in 44 churches in 26 states and three countries.

In February 2019, Night to Shine was hosted by 655 churches in all 50 states and 24 countries, with about 100,000 prom guests in attendance.

“We are grateful to the Tim Tebow Foundation, the partner churches and countless volunteers for organizing this annual event,” Phillips shared. “For our individuals, it was a night they will not soon forget, filled with smiles, laughter, singing, and of course, lots of dancing.”
