Devereux Texas enhances school library to better meet needs of students
Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Texas recently enhanced its school library to better meet the needs of the youth it serves in the Autism Intensive Residential Program. The library features new books and updated seating. A mural depicting a forest scene with trees and animals covers the walls, while the seating design represents a river running through the forest. “This project was made possible thanks to the generosity and support of our amazing volunteer group, the Friends of Devereux,” said Devereux Texas Executive Director Pam Reed. “The Friends created a calm and welcoming space for our youth to enjoy. This group volunteers in the library two days per week, helping youth check out books, and soon, they will be providing story time. We also want to thank our talented art teacher, Beverly Balshaw, for painting the beautiful forest mural.” Devereux Texas’ Autism Intensive Residential Program serves youth, ages 6 to 17, with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and co-occurring mental health conditions.
