Eartha Steed, Program Director

Eartha SteedCenter/office location: Devereux New Jersey/Cherry Hill, New Jersey

Length of service: February 2015

How do you embed an inclusive, Servant Leadership mindset into your daily processes?

As program director of Devereux New Jersey’s Upper Southern 2 Region, I always try my best to lead by example.

How do you inspire others to embrace Servant Leadership practices?

Whether I am providing direct support or staff supervision, I lead conversations with respect, compassion and understanding. Utilizing these strengths, I am happy with how I conduct myself during each interaction. I believe in encouraging respect from others by first giving respect to others.

Share an example or story of how you demonstrated compassion or delivered quality customer service at your center.

Over the years, I have encountered many different people with various job titles, backgrounds and exciting cultural differences. Through my encounters with these individuals, I have learned to be sensitive to the things that are left unsaid by listening to more than just their words. I believe it is important as a leader, to leave people better than you met them.
