Catherine Kortlandt, who serves as the senior assistant general counsel and managing attorney at Linde, was recently elected to Devereux New York’s Advisory Board.

Catherine Kortlandt was recently elected to Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York’s Advisory Board. Kortlandt, who serves as the senior assistant general counsel and managing attorney at Linde (formerly Praxair, Inc.), a global industrial gas and engineering company, was elected to a three-year term during Devereux New York’s October Advisory Board meeting.

As a member of the Advisory Board, Kortlandt will work to advance the mission of Devereux New York through development, advocacy and community relations activities, ensuring the organization continues to provide the best possible care for the children, adolescents and adults it serves.

“I am thrilled to welcome Catherine to our Advisory Board,” said Devereux New York Executive Director John Lopez, M.S.Ed. “Her passion for supporting youth and adults with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences is truly inspiring. During her first Advisory Board meeting, she jumped into discussions and hit the ground running with great enthusiasm, ready to make a positive impact on our organization and the individuals in our care.”

Kortlandt added, “I am honored to participate on the Advisory Board, and excited to serve and support Devereux New York. I bring a lifetime of interest in, and experience with, individuals with disabilities. My sister has intellectual disabilities, and she leads a fulfilling life. Everyone deserves that opportunity, and I am grateful to be in a position to further Devereux’s mission and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.”

Facilitating connections; navigating challenges

In addition to her personal experience with individuals with disabilities, Kortlandt has served on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics Connecticut for 10 years.

“As a member of the Special Olympics Board, I have witnessed first-hand how any challenge society faces, like the COVID-19 pandemic, not only impacts the population we serve, but also the employees, family members and supporters who are instrumental in carrying out our important work. Now, as a member of the Devereux New York Advisory Board, I hope to strengthen Devereux’s partnerships with local Special Olympics programs, facilitating connections, and assist the organization in navigating any challenges – or opportunities – that may arise.”
