Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health President and CEO Carl E. Clark II recently returned to the Penn State Schuylkill campus in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania, to participate in a “Career Chat” with students and faculty.

Clark attended Penn State Schuylkill from 1981 to 1983, before transferring to Penn State University Park in State College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in administration of justice in 1986.

During the “Career Chat,” Clark discussed his time at Penn State and his career path, and provided information about Devereux and the organization’s new ASCEND Career Accelerator Program.

“I was excited to return to Penn State Schuylkill, and honored to have an opportunity to speak with students and faculty about my personal and professional experiences,” Clark noted. “I have many fond memories of my time at the school – and I even met my wife in one of my classes! While touring the campus, I was impressed with the many educational developments and campus-wide enhancements. This event allowed me to share how Devereux supports individuals who are looking to build long and rewarding careers in the field of behavioral health, and how our Devereux ASCEND Career Accelerator Program can help people fulfill their professional aspirations.”

Building a successful partnership

Following his presentation, students and faculty had an opportunity to ask Clark questions, many of which centered on Devereux ASCEND.

“There was a lot of interest and enthusiasm from those in attendance about our career accelerator program,” Clark shared. “Devereux ASCEND is a game changer for people who want to turn good jobs into great careers. Making meaningful connections with students now can help us strengthen our talent pipeline for years to come.”

Clark says he looks forward to building a successful partnership with Penn State Schuylkill, sentiments echoed by the school’s chancellor, Patrick M. Jones, Ph.D.

“It was a joy having Carl return home to Penn State Schuylkill. He is a successful alumnus who has dedicated his life to helping others, and we are very proud of him,” Jones said. “There are many opportunities for Penn State Schuylkill to partner with Devereux, from internships to job placements. Many of our degree programs align directly with Devereux’s needs. We look forward to working with Devereux to help our students become job-ready, and to help Devereux develop its talent pipeline.”
