Brief Intervention Program (BIP)

Devereux Arizona’s Brief Intervention Program (BIP) is a short-term, intensive residential treatment program designed for youth who require stabilization, therapeutic support and 24-hour supervision in a structured and secure environment.

Serving youth, ages 7 to 17, the BIP provides a safe space for healing and skill-building. The program is designed for individuals experiencing significant challenges in social, emotional, psychiatric and/or psychological functioning, and who may not have responded to previous community-based services.

Our goal is to work closely with families and treatment teams to assess, stabilize and prepare youth for a successful return to home, foster care or another community-based setting – as quickly and safely as possible.

Our Approach

The BIP provides around-the-clock care, including trauma-informed therapeutic services and structured daily routines. Treatment planning is collaborative and individualized, incorporating input from:

  • Youth and their families
  • Intake agencies or health homes
  • Child and Family Teams (CFTs)

Our approach combines clinical care with positive behavior supports and family engagement to promote long-term success after discharge. The average length of stay is determined by medical necessity and driven by the goal of safe, effective reintegration into the community.

  • Are male or female, ages 7 to 17 (younger individuals may be considered on a case-by-case basis)

  • Exhibit challenging behaviors that interfere with functioning
  • Have previously received treatment services that did not fully meet their underlying needs
