Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Pocono launches therapeutic foster care program to help at-risk youth thrive

The nonprofit is seeking foster parents in Carbon, Lackawanna, Monroe and Pike counties

Newfoundland, PA – Dec. 7, 2020 – Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Pocono, a nonprofit behavioral healthcare provider with locations throughout northeast Pennsylvania, has launched a therapeutic foster care program to provide children and adolescents living with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences the opportunity to grow and thrive. Devereux Pocono is currently seeking a diverse pool of treatment/foster parents to open their hearts and homes to youth in need in Carbon, Lackawanna, Monroe and Pike counties. The organization welcomes single, married, partnered, or cohabitating individuals to become treatment/foster parents.

Devereux Pocono’s Community Residential Rehabilitation Services (CRRS) program uses a collaborative approach to serve a diverse population of at-risk youth – and their families. The goal is to nurture human potential and stabilize symptoms and/or challenging behaviors to help children return to a less intensive level of care.

“We are excited to launch a therapeutic foster care program to help youth reach their full and unique potential,” said Devereux Pocono Executive Director Tina Skoda. “We believe all individuals deserve a loving, supportive and nurturing family – and a positive and natural home environment – to help them succeed in life. Our treatment/foster parents can rest assured we will be with them every step of the way, providing intensive training, along with clinical and emotional support.”

Consider fostering a child – change a life today!

In addition to receiving generous, tax-free compensation, Devereux Pocono’s treatment/foster parents receive extensive training and clinical oversight regarding behavioral health issues and trauma. In order to become a treatment/foster parent, you must:

  • Be at least 25 years of age
  • Have a minimum of a high school diploma or the equivalent
  • Pass background clearances
  • Meet home study and licensing requirements

Note: Treatment parents are considered independent contractor positions. Devereux is a drug-free workplace and equal opportunity employer.
