Devereux Pennsylvania awarded $40,000 grant to support youth, adults during COVID-19

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Pennsylvania was recently awarded a $40,000 grant to help keep the more than 3,800 children, adolescents and adults it serves in southeastern Pennsylvania safe and healthy during the pandemic.

The grant, from the PHL COVID-19 Fund, will help three Devereux Pennsylvania centers – Adult Services, Children’s Behavioral Health Services (CBHS) and Children’s Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services (CIDDS) – continue to safely and effectively provide programs and services for individuals living with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences. Specifically, funds from the grant will be used to:

  • Purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as face masks, face shields and hand sanitizer for front-line staff, as well as the individuals served by the organization
  • Purchase electronic devices, including laptops, tablets, smartphones to help team members provide telehealth and tele-education services
  • Cover payroll costs for recruiting and retaining essential employees

“We want to thank the PHL COVID-19 Fund for awarding Devereux Pennsylvania this generous grant,” said Devereux National Director of Development Antonia Allsman. “Over the past few months, all of our efforts have been focused on protecting the health and well-being of our youth and adults, as well as our hardworking and dedicated team members. These funds will help ensure our staff have the critical resources they need to continue to provide the highest quality and most compassionate care for the individuals we serve.”

About the PHL COVID-19 Fund …

The PHL COVID-19 Fund, a partnership between the Philadelphia Foundation and the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, provides grants to nonprofits – like Devereux – throughout the greater Philadelphia area that are at the front lines of COVID-19 response. Grants will be used to support food pantries and health services; help with preparedness and protection needs such as hygiene supplies; and ensure access to accurate, up-to-date information and available services.
