Residential Treatment Center Services - Scottsdale

Therapy

Licensed, master’s-level clinicians use individualized and culturally competent therapies to address behavioral and mental health challenges. All youth receive individual and group therapy, incorporating family therapy whenever possible.

Our clinicians work with child and family teams (CFTs) to design and implement a treatment plan for each child based on their unique strengths and needs. The components of the treatment plan may include all, or a combination of, the following:

  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Milieu-based treatment
  • Behavior motivation system
  • Health and wellness assessment
  • Child and family team (CFT) meetings
  • Recreational therapy

Substance Use Program

Our substance use program incorporates the skills training component of dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT); relapse prevention groups; and on-site, 12-step meetings. Upon completion of the substance abuse program, each individual will graduate with a comprehensive wellness and recovery plan.

Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) Therapy

Our Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) program provides comprehensive treatment for youth who have experienced emotional, physical or sexual trauma. Our CSEC program utilizes the STRIVE curriculum in both individual and group therapy.

Anger Management

Anger management groups help individuals reduce harm to themselves and others, manage emotions and develop effective coping skills.

DBT Skills Groups

Our DBT Skills Program provides psychoeducation regarding emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, crisis management and mindfulness skills to address maladaptive forms of coping, reducing targeted behaviors and building a life worth living.

Recreational Therapy

Our recreational therapy program uses activities, such as arts and crafts, life-skills groups, music and dance classes, team-building exercises, aquatic therapy, sports groups and off-campus activities, to help improve the overall health and well-being of the individuals we serve. Groups rotate every eight weeks to allow youth the opportunity to explore different areas of interest throughout treatment.

In addition to the social aspects of our recreational therapy programs, individuals acquire critical life skills. Youth who participate in our culinary arts program maintain a garden and learn about the importance of nutrition, meal planning and preparing foods. The program also allows our culinary arts students the opportunity to obtain an Arizona Food Handlers Card for future employment.

Education Program

Our school’s mission is to provide students with opportunities to achieve academic, social, emotional and behavioral success. Our on-site, year-round school is accredited by the AdvanceED-North Central Association (NCA) Commission and licensed by the Arizona Department of Education (ADE), which allows us to provide elementary, secondary and special education programs.

Students receive individualized educational attention based on their unique needs. Many of our students have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), and our staff use curriculum-based assessments to determine any additional needs.

Medical and Psychiatric Services

Devereux Arizona ensures both the physical and mental health and well-being of the individuals we serve by providing 24-hour, on-site nursing staff, an adolescent medicine physician, a pediatric nurse practitioner and a board certified child and adolescent psychiatrist. We partner with mobile dentistry, eye care services and a registered dietician to provide additional physical healthcare.

Title IX Policy and Procedures

What is Title IX?Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”) prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. Sex discrimination includes sex-based harassment, discrimination on the basis of sex and retaliation related to complaints of sex discrimination. Sex-based harassment is unwelcome conduct, which includes both sexual harassment including, but not limited to, sexual assault, other forms of sexual violence and other sexual misconduct, and gender-based harassment. This applies to academic, educational, athletic and residential programs.

What is Different? The new Title IX regulation holds schools accountable for failure to respond equitably and promptly to sexual misconduct incidents and ensures a more reliable adjudication process that is fair to all students. The Final Regulations specify how recipients (defined as schools, LEAs, postsecondary institutions) of federal financial assistance must respond to allegations of sexual harassment consistent with Title IX’s prohibition against sex discrimination. They further specify how recipients (defined as schools, LEAs, postsecondary institutions) of federal financial assistance must respond to allegations of sexual harassment consistent with Title IX’s prohibition against sex discrimination.
