2022 Supervisory Excellence Award: Devereux honors direct care supervisors for leading by example

Compassionate caregivers, tireless advocates and visionary leaders – Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health recently presented its 2022 Supervisory Excellence Award to 14 direct care supervisors across the organization who embody these qualities and serve as a shining example to all those around them.

The annual award recognizes staff members who treat their colleagues and the children, adolescents and adults they serve with kindness, dignity and respect, and are committed to helping their teams and their centers succeed and grow.

“I want to congratulate this year’s Supervisory Excellence Award recipients, and thank them for going above and beyond to create a positive and supportive work environment that inspires confidence and capability in others,” said Devereux President and CEO Carl E. Clark II. “These coaches, mentors and role models are invested in their roles and our organization, and dedicate themselves each and every day to upholding our mission and standards of excellence.”

Award criteria

Every year, direct care employees at each of Devereux’s 14 centers nominate supervisors who lead to serve. These supervisors nurture the potential in others and demonstrate Servant Leadership principles through the following behaviors and actions:

  • Consistently treat others with respect; listen to others’ opinions/recommendations
  • Create an adaptive and supportive environment
  • Offer sincere praise and recognition
  • Provide fair and timely performance feedback, both positive and constructive
  • Actively engage in, and encourage, personal and professional growth
  • Lead by example in all actions
  • Communicate effectively by listening and sharing important information
  • Hold himself/herself, and others, accountable for meeting Devereux’s standards of excellence

Clark noted, “At Devereux, we want to recognize and celebrate those who are always willing to lend a helping hand and bring out the best in their colleagues, as well as the individuals they serve.”
