Devereux Texas awarded $10,000 grant to support residential, educational programs

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Texas was recently awarded a $10,000 grant to support the organization’s residential and educational programs at its League City campus.

The grant, from the Ruth Jones MacDonald Charitable Trust, will be used to help Devereux Texas continue to provide individualized and effective, evidence-based programs and services for youth living with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences.

“We are extremely grateful to the Ruth Jones MacDonald Charitable Trust for awarding us this generous grant,” said Devereux Texas Executive Director Pam Reed. “This is the fourth grant we’ve received from the Trust over the past four years – for a total of $40,000. These funds benefit our residential services and the Devereux School as we work to help those in our care learn new skills and thrive.”

Helping youth achieve success

Devereux Texas’ residential and educational programs are designed to meet the unique needs of each individual. Look below to learn more about these programs.

  • Residential services: Using Devereux Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, a framework that promotes the reduction of challenging behaviors through the encouragement of positive behaviors, team members teach youth valuable life, job and social skills.
  • The Devereux School: Special education teachers identify each student’s academic strengths and needs, and help individuals set educational goals and objectives. The ultimate goal is to promote student success in a structured, stable and nurturing environment.

Reed noted, “With support from our community partners, we strive to provide the individuals we serve with the best possible care – and hope for a brighter future.”

About the Trust: Founded in 2000, the Ruth Jones MacDonald Charitable Trust is a private, independent foundation that awards grants to nonprofit organizations in the Houston area.
