Statewide Inpatient Psychiatric Program

The Devereux Florida Statewide Psychiatric Program (SIPP) provides a therapeutic residential living and learning environment for emotionally challenged children and adolescents. The individuals served typically have issues relating to emotional, behavioral, psychological problems and often unresolved trauma.  This residential treatment program prepares children and adolescents for transition into the community through clinical, vocational, academic, recreational and life skills training. Family Therapy is a strong component of this program, offering the opportunity to strengthen the family while participating in this program.  The SIPP provides a homelike secure setting with intensive treatment in Orlando, Florida.

Licensed by the Agency for Health Care Administration and accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the Devereux SIPP serves male and female children and adolescents ages 5 through 17.  These services are offered to youths regardless of race, sex, creed or religious beliefs.

Therapy

All residents receive individual, group and family counseling services as part of the schedule. Individual treatment plans set goals and monitor progress. Issues surrounding past abuse, separation from families, depression, anger management, self-awareness, self-esteem, behavioral issues, conduct issues and communication skills help ensure a successful transition to a less restrictive level of care after discharge. Group therapy includes sexual abuse, survival and social skills, grief loss, anger management and process groups.

Our multidisciplinary team includes behavioral analysts, RNs, teachers, therapeutic recreation specialists, utilization coordinators and consultant positions such as, psychologist, physician, dentist and dietician. All clinical services are provided by psychiatrists and masters level therapists. Direct Care Professionals provide 24-hour supervision of all residents.  All team members are trained in Trauma Informed Care, Crisis Prevention Intervention, First Aid and CPR.

Behavior System

The behavior system operates on a Multidisciplinary Treatment Team approach with an emphasis upon a Positive Behavior Support philosophy of treatment. Success is based upon individual treatment objectives that promote growth towards pro-social skill acquisition and enhancement of an individual’s strengths with a reduction of challenging behaviors that hinder integration back into the family or community environment.

Education

Devereux SIPP residents attend an on-site Kindergarten through 12th grade school. Curriculum is based upon instruction from the Department of Education to meet the educational needs of students throughout Florida. Our school also helps prepare students for graduation at their home school.
