Devereux Pennsylvania Adult Services Executive Director Christopher Betts, M.A., was selected to serve on the Pennsylvania Joint State Government Commission’s Advisory Committee on the Delivery of State Services Relating to Autism, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Pennsylvania — Adult Services Executive Director Christopher Betts, M.A., was recently selected to serve on the Pennsylvania Joint State Government Commission’s Advisory Committee on the Delivery of State Services Relating to Autism, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

Betts was named to the advisory committee as a result of his 20-plus years of behavioral healthcare experience. The committee will study various aspects of the delivery system administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services’ Office of Developmental Programs.

“I am honored to serve on the advisory committee and have an opportunity to positively impact the way behavioral health services are delivered in the state,” said Betts. “I look forward to working closely with my fellow committee members, sharing knowledge and expertise to ensure those living with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities have access to the best possible care and support.”

Improving service delivery

The advisory committee, which will meet every six weeks, will study various topics to ensure state services are inclusive and offer options to families and communities where there is a need. Topics to be considered by the committee include:

  • Waiver services
  • Housing options
  • Transportation
  • Community participation supports
  • Workforce development

A final report on the committee’s work will be submitted to the Pennsylvania General Assembly.

“I am excited to represent Devereux on the committee. Regardless of one’s role at our organization, we are all advocates for the individuals and families we serve,” noted Betts. “The committee will review current services and make recommendations for enhancements so we can improve future outcomes for families across the Commonwealth.”
