Job fair draws immigrant professionals interested in behavioral health career opportunities

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Pennsylvania participated in its second job fair for immigrants, drawing professionals interested in a career in behavioral health.

The job fair was held in partnership with the Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians, which accelerates immigrant integration and economic advancement through education, training, employment and entrepreneurship.

Recruiting qualified candidates

Participants stopped by the job fair at Pennsylvania CareerLink in Philadelphia in November to explore career opportunities with Devereux – one of the largest and most advanced behavioral healthcare organizations in the country.

“We’re very pleased with how well our second job fair for immigrants went and the overall quality of candidates with whom we met,” said Rich Latella, human resources director for Devereux Pennsylvania’s Children’s Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services (CIDDS) center. “Devereux Pennsylvania is looking to fill several entry-level, direct care positions. All the candidates who turned out for our hiring event are well-qualified and are seeking meaningful work in the field of behavioral health. We were thrilled to meet them.”

Win-win for candidates and employers

The job fair not only helps professionals from other countries connect with prospective employers in the U.S., but it also provides them with an opportunity to learn the skills needed to excel at job interviews and land that perfect job.

Being able to recruit qualified candidates who are both culturally and linguistically diverse is beneficial to employers like Devereux, as well.

“It’s important for us, as a national behavioral healthcare organization, to have a strong and diverse workforce,” explained Latella. “A talented staff made up of people with varying backgrounds and life experiences, who can bring their unique perspectives and ideas to the table, is a win-win situation for both employees and the individuals we serve every day.”
