Mary Imbornone discusses Devereux’s Servant Leadership journey at International Servant-Leader Summit

Devereux National Director of Learning and Organizational Development Mary Imbornone, M.Ed., recently discussed the organization’s efforts to implement and sustain Servant Leadership best practices across the nonprofit’s 14 centers at the International Servant-Leader (ISL) Summit.

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health National Director of Learning and Organizational Development Mary Imbornone, M.Ed., recently discussed the organization’s efforts to implement and sustain Servant Leadership best practices across the nonprofit’s 14 centers at the International Servant-Leader (ISL) Summit.

The ISL Summit, which was held virtually in June, was presented by the Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership and Wisconsin Servant Leadership.

“I was extremely honored to have an opportunity to share Devereux’s Servant Leadership journey with servant leaders from across the U.S. and around the world,” said Imbornone. “I discussed how a combination of success factors, including the clear vision of Devereux President and CEO Carl E. Clark II; the steadfast support from our senior leadership team and national Board of Trustees; the intent focus of our national Servant Leadership Committee; and the unwavering dedication and commitment from our amazing Servant Leadership Champions has helped us achieve remarkable outcomes.” Read a previous news article on Devereux’s 2021 Servant Leadership Champions Conference, which featured Greenleaf Executive Director Reginald “Reggie” Lewis as the keynote speaker.

Inspiring passion, growth

The ISL Summit highlighted the significant relevance and value of Servant Leadership. The ultimate goal of the three-day event was to:

  • Equip and inspire servant leaders to grow personally
  • Enrich the lives of others
  • Help servant leaders built better organizations
  • Create and foster a more loving, just and caring world.

Imbornone says the learning will never stop as Devereux strives to reach even greater heights through Servant Leadership.

“There is an expanding global community of individuals, organizations and institutions – all working to apply Servant Leadership principles in ways that can create stronger organizations and communities,” Imbornone noted. “My summer reading list got a lot longer thanks to all of the recommended books and articles I acquired at the ISL Summit. We have so much more to learn, and I am excited to continue on this journey of discovery and improvement.”
