Devereux Pennsylvania brings smiles to faces with back-to-school drive

For the third consecutive year, employees at the Devereux Pennsylvania Community Services center secured donations – and conducted a back-to-school drive – that benefited youth served by the organization’s local outpatient programs.

This year, more than 320 children and families received donations, including backpacks, folders, binders, pens, notebooks, pencils, crayons and pencil sharpeners, to help them prepare for the new school year.

“Each year, our amazing staff works together to obtain these important donations for the children we serve in our communities,” said Jennifer Cooper, Devereux Pennsylvania Community Services director of operations. “The majority of supplies were donated by Cradles to Crayons, but we also had multiple donations from employees at several Devereux centers. I am so proud of our Community Services team!”

During a recent event, where the donations were distributed, families expressed their gratitude, not only for the school supplies, but for the work the organization’s employees do to support and care for the youth and families they serve every day.

“The smiles on the kids’ faces said it all,” added Cooper. “Our staff receives daily gratification from the work we do, but to so readily bring a smile to a child’s face is especially meaningful.”
