Yarret Taylor, Job CoachCenter/office location: Devereux Connecticut - The Glenholme School - Washington Length of service: July 2021 How do you embed an inclusive, Servant Leadership mindset into your daily processes?I believe that if I want to make a difference in the lives of the individuals I serve, I must lead by example. Before every shift, I have a routine where I ask myself, “How can I be a better me and more socially competent?” Being more socially competent allows me to better serve our individuals by understanding their social backgrounds, upbringing and any dynamics that shape their behavior and mindset. I view each student as a new book that I need to read, understand and store in my memory bank. How do you inspire others to embrace Servant Leadership practices? The relationships I have with my students are proof of how I inspire others. I pride myself as being a person who has faced adversity and overcome it. I believe in the individuals I serve, and promote growth with positive lessons that I hope will continue to uplift them. I also believe that doing a good job and putting your best foot forward will make the world a better place. Share an example or story of how you demonstrated compassion or delivered quality customer service at your center. There have been times when my students have forgotten their wallets at home, and I have paid for their lunch or shared my food. Without giving it a second thought, I explain to them the importance of being united, and part of that is making sure no person is left behind at any time. |
