Devereux Arizona’s intervention services move to new Tucson location

Devereux Arizona recently celebrated the grand opening of its Assessment and Intervention Center and Brief Intervention Program’s new Tucson location.

Devereux Arizona’s Assessment and Intervention Center and Brief Intervention Program offer short-term, intensive residential services to youth, ages 9 to 17, who are experiencing significant social, emotional and behavioral health challenges.

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Arizona recently celebrated the grand opening of its Assessment and Intervention Center (AIC) and Brief Intervention Program’s (BIP) new Tucson location.

Devereux Arizona’s AIC and BIP offer short-term, intensive residential services to youth, ages 9 to 17, who are experiencing significant social, emotional and behavioral health challenges.

The new facility is designed to meet the needs of individuals in a safe, supportive and structured setting.

“We are excited to serve youth at our new location,” said Devereux Arizona Executive Director Yvette Jackson, LMSW, DBH. “The facility, which has been renovated to ensure we are providing the most effective therapeutic environment possible, is larger and more modern than our previous building. We can serve up to 24 individuals at a time. In addition, we now have a chef on-site who prepares fresh, delicious and nutritious meals, which has been a hit with our kids, as well as our staff.”

Supporting youth in crisis

Devereux Arizona’s AIC and BIP help youth return to their families or the next appropriate placement or level of care as soon as possible.

Look below for an overview of our intervention services.

  • Assessment and Intervention Center (AIC): The AIC provides comprehensive evaluations and intensive behavioral healthcare interventions. A multidisciplinary team identifies each individual’s level of functioning, as well as their strengths and needs through an extensive assessment process. Youth can remain at the AIC for up to 45 days.
  • Brief Intervention Program (BIP): The BIP includes 24-hour supervision and therapeutic services for youth who require active treatment in an environment with a high degree of oversight, intensive programming and continuous supervision. A child’s length of stay is 10 to 15 days.

“These services target a population that has experienced multiple disruptions in placement, and works to create a strong behavior support plan to help individuals return to a community setting,” explained Devereux Arizona Regional Director of Operations Sunshine Turner, M.Ed. “We designed our new building specifically for our services. Now, it is much more aligned with our family standard, the lens through which we carefully review all programs and services to make sure they are operating at the highest levels.”
