‘5K Run for Autism’ generates more than $6,000 for Devereux’s Glenholme School

More than 170 runners and walkers participated in Devereux Connecticut - The Glenholme School’s eighth annual “Glenholme 5K Run for Autism.”

The event, which was held at Steep Rock Preserve in Washington, Conn., raised more than $6,000 for The Glenholme School.

With every step, more than 170 runners and walkers showed their support for students with disabilities at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Connecticut – The Glenholme School’s eighth annual “Glenholme 5K Run for Autism.”

The event, held recently at Steep Rock Preserve in Washington, Conn., raised more than $6,000 for The Glenholme School.

“Many thanks to our sponsors, volunteers and participants for helping to make the race a huge success,” said Glenholme School Executive Director Noah Noyes. “Last year, the event was held virtually due to COVID-19, and this year, we were excited to welcome runners, walkers and their canine companions back to Steep Rock. We were thrilled to host our largest group of participants to date for a great cause.”

Race participation, volunteer opportunities

Glenholme School families, staff and community supporters participated in the 5K.

“This event gets bigger and better each year – it was wonderful to see everyone come together to support our students and our mission,” shared Glenholme School Director of Development Courtney Delaney, who helped organize the event. “All of the funds raised will be used to enhance our programs and services as we strive to make a positive difference in the lives of the children, adolescents and young adults we serve.”

While some students laced up their sneakers for the race, others who are enrolled in The Glenholme School’s E3 Transition Program, a therapeutic program that helps young adults strengthen their independence, volunteered to assist behind the scenes.

“We want to give an extra special shoutout to our E3 students who volunteered their time on a weekend to help with setup, parking, check-in and cleanup,” Delaney noted. “These individuals were ready to lend a helping hand, and were very involved before, during and after the race. We cannot thank them enough.”

Save the date!

The Glenholme School's ninth annual “Glenholme 5K Run for Autism” will be held on Nov. 13, 2022, at Steep Rock Preserve. Interested sponsors should contact Courtney Delaney.
