Devereux Pennsylvania CBHS donates linens, towels to Community Youth and Women’s Alliance
Team members at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Pennsylvania’s Children’s Behavioral Health Services (CBHS) center recently donated linens and towels to the Community Youth and Women’s Alliance (CYWA) in Coatesville, Pa. Devereux Pennsylvania CBHS’ Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee, which advocates for, and works toward, meaningful and positive change, held a linen and towel drive on campus. In about a month, staff collected hundreds of dollars’ worth of new and gently used twin and crib size linens, bath towels and wash cloths for the CYWA. Learn about Devereux’s commitment to DEI. “We want to thank our DEI committee for organizing the linen and towel drive, and our generous and caring staff, as well as their families, who donated these much-needed items,” said Devereux Pennsylvania CBHS Executive Director Patricia Hillis-Clark, Psy.D. “The donations will go a long way in supporting the women and children served by the CYWA.” Devereux Pennsylvania CBHS Delaware Family-Based Program Supervisor Joshua Burton, LPC, noted. “Helping is who we are, and to have a platform like the DEI committee that can reach employees across campus and extend that reach into the communities in which we serve is a privilege. The committee’s mission is to embody inclusion by connecting diverse voices across our center and serving our workforce and community with cultural humility. We seek to do that every day, and partnering with the CYWA is just one way we stay mission-driven.” Supporting families in needThe linens and towels donated by Devereux Pennsylvania CBHS will be distributed to women and children in the CYWA’s Gateway Shelter, an emergency shelter that helps families find permanent, affordable housing, and the Samara House, a substance abuse treatment facility. “When organizations like Devereux reach out to assist in furthering our mission of providing for those in need, it warms our hearts,” said CYWA Executive Assistant Melissa Lopez. “We were so very happy to see what an abundance of linens and towels Devereux team members collected. The need for these items is constant because when residents leave the CYWA to move into their own home, they are permitted to take linens and towels with them. We are always looking to replenish our stock.” Devereux Pennsylvania CBHS People Operations Generalist Melissa Irons also shared, “When we learned of the CYWA’s need, we knew we had to take action. The CYWA is an incredible organization, and we hope to partner with them again in the future.” About the CYWAFounded in the late 1800s, the CYWA is dedicated to assisting women and children in the Coatesville, Pa., community. The organization aims to eliminate racism and poverty; provide adequate housing for low- and mid-income families; eliminate barriers to healthy family life; and promote lifelong recovery from addiction.
