Devereux Pennsylvania’s continuum of care includes community and outpatient service options.

Look below to learn more about our available programs and services for children and adolescents.

Devereux CARES (Center for Autism Research and Educational Services)

The Devereux Center for Autism Research and Educational Services (CARES) is a noted leader in autism services in the Philadelphia region and beyond. CARES is an educational program licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education that provides services to students, ages 5 to 21, who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities. Programming is focused on increasing independence for each student.

Family-Based Services

(610) 422-1490

Devereux Pennsylvania’s family-based services support children, adolescents and young adults, ages 2 to 21, with significant emotional and behavioral challenges – to live successfully with their families. The program incorporates families and caregivers in the treatment process to ensure a child’s positive involvement at home, school or within the community.

Outpatient Services

(610) 422-1490

Available to residents of Berks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties

As part of our outpatient services, therapists provide mental health treatment for children, adolescents and young adults, ages 2 to 21, who are diagnosed with depression, pervasive development disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, bipolar disorder and/or poor impulse control. Our services include:

  • Individual therapy: Identifies a child’s specific behavioral challenges and develops the use of skills to enhance his or her strengths through various forms of therapy.
  • Family therapy: Focuses on improving and enhancing family communication and positive support through education and family system therapy. Parents and caregivers are provided with strategies and techniques to best support their children.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy

(610) 422-1490

Available to residents of Berks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is offered to parents of children, ages 2 ½ to 7, who exhibit behaviors, such as anxiety, moodiness, temper tantrums, aggression, inability to play alone and other challenging behaviors. Using this approach, a therapist coaches parents during real-time interactions with the child in two skill areas:

  1. Child-Directed Interaction (CDI): Parents learn to use or develop traditional play therapy skills to enhance the parent-child relationship.
  2. Parent-Directed Interaction (PDI): Parents learn skills for improving child compliance and decreasing disruptive behaviors.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

(610) 422-1490

Available to residents of Berks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy aims to reduce negative emotional and behavioral responses to trauma; correct maladaptive or unhelpful beliefs related to abusive experiences; provide support and skills to the non-offending caregivers; and be able to respond to, and support, the youth in our care.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

(610) 422-1490

Available to residents of Berks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), is designed to help youth manage their emotions and behaviors more effectively so they can lead meaningful, productive and socially-connected lives. While understanding the thoughts that drive behaviors is a critical component of therapy, helping youth regulate their emotions or behaviors, through DBT, is essential for them to thrive in their homes, schools and communities.

Blended Case Management

(610) 422-1490

Available to residents of Berks, Chester and Montgomery counties

Devereux Pennsylvania’s Blended Case Management program helps children, adolescents and young adults, ages 2 to 21, and their families, navigate the world of social services. Our teams work collaboratively with family members, funders and service providers to advocate on behalf of the child, ensuring care is coordinated, effective and responsive to the needs of each individual. Resources could include: behavioral health services, education, housing, employment, healthcare, legal aid and social skills.

Student Assistance Program (SAP)

(610) 422-1490

Available to students enrolled in Chester county schools

The Student Assistance Program team is comprised of school staff (teachers, guidance counselors, administrators, school nurse, etc.) and agency staff, including a SAP Liaison from Devereux. The team is trained to identify students who are experiencing barriers to learning and success in school. These barriers may include, but are not limited to, attendance issues, academic difficulties, mental health concerns, substance use and grief.

Youth Peer Support

(610) 422-1490

Our Certified Peer Specialists serve as role models, drawing upon their own personal experiences to help guide individuals in their recovery. These team members offer valuable knowledge and first-hand experiences that other behavior health professionals may be unable to provide. Specifically, our Certified Peer Specialists provide support in helping the individuals we serve: 1) become involved in the community; 2) understand the importance of self-advocacy; 3) learn the ins and outs (and risks) of social networking; 4) assist with employment activities; and 5) gain a sense of personal empowerment.
