Devereux Pocono Clinical Director Michelle Wonders, Psy.D., was appointed recently as Internal Affairs board chair for the Pennsylvania Psychological Association (PPA). Wonders was selected to serve a one-year term.

“We are extremely proud of Michelle and the work she does to support our team members and the individuals we serve with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences. She is extremely well-respected by her staff and peers, which is demonstrated by this appointment,” said Devereux Pocono Executive Director Tina Skoda

About the PPA

The PPA is the third largest state association in the country affiliated with the American Psychological Association and has nearly 3,000 licensed psychologists as members. Its vision is to promote the science and practice of psychology by supporting psychologists to meet the evolving needs of the public.

In conjunction with its annual conference in June, incoming PPA Board President Dr. Nicole Quinlan appointed Wonders to serve on the board of directors, overseeing PPA’s Internal Affairs area, which includes oversight of committees responsible for awards, membership, budget and finance, leadership development, early career psychology, and nominations/elections.

Confirming Devereux’s contributions

Wonders has been involved with the PPA since 2002, since she was a student at Immaculata University. Since that time, she has been active on committees including the Continuing Education and Colleague Assistance Committees, and task forces covering topics such as: Early Career Psychologist, Technology and Interpersonal Violence.

“I am very excited and honored to be volunteering with my professional state association in this capacity,” said Wonders. “I have developed strong bonds with my colleagues at PPA, and this appointment will allow me to extend Devereux’s already wide-reaching reputation by being present at conferences and events throughout the year, and share our mission with other psychologists.”
