Devereux increases efforts to recruit immigrant professionals in Pennsylvania

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health has partnered with the Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians to share information with individuals who are interested in a career in behavioral health. Devereux is participating in the Welcoming Center’s “International Professional Program,” which includes assisting individuals with job training, resume building and interviewing skills, panel discussions, and an introduction to the job market and employment protocols in America.

A significant part of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health’s future success relies upon its ability to recruit and retain talented and committed employees who will support its mission to unlock and nurture human potential for people living with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences.

As the organization continues to identify innovative strategies to draw high-performing staff, Devereux is working with the Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians to assist behavioral healthcare professionals from other countries – who are now living in the Commonwealth – to acclimate to the American job market and to land that perfect job.

Specifically, Devereux is participating in the Welcoming Center’s “International Professional Program” (IPP), which includes assisting individuals with job training, resume building and interviewing skills, panel discussions, and an introduction to the job market and employment protocols in America. Program participants have received their professional training from as far away as Senegal, Hungary, Pakistan, Nigeria and Morocco.

“We have a growing need for qualified candidates who are culturally and linguistically diverse professionals,” said Devereux Vice President of Human Resources Tim Dillon. “We believe our partnership with the Welcoming Center is a win-win-win situation; one in which we can offer the Center our time and expertise, while helping behavioral healthcare professionals find jobs and expanding Devereux’s candidate pool globally.”

About the Welcoming Center

The Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians accelerates immigrant integration and economic advancement through education, training, employment and entrepreneurship.

Working closely with government agencies, employers, business associations, trade unions, and economic development groups, the Center supports immigrants in navigating the American employment environment, including assistance with: obtaining the necessary credentials and licenses to practice their profession in America; marketing their skills appropriately and effectively; and obtaining further education and experience to facilitate finding meaningful employment. Devereux Pennsylvania holds job fair

Last month, with the support of the Welcoming Center, Devereux Pennsylvania held its first successful job fair, drawing 20 immigrant professionals to the session. Ultimately, Devereux Pennsylvania hopes to attract some of these professionals who may have the necessary skills, but may not have the ability to successfully approach employers in America.

Devereux Pennsylvania is also a member of the Welcoming Center’s Employer Advisory Council, in which team members will provide ongoing feedback to inform IPP design, implementation and assessment.

Devereux National Director of Talent Acquisition Raegan Downing noted that she is researching similar opportunities in other states where Devereux has operations. “We continually strive to secure a strong and diverse talent pool of talent. We already encourage our international staff and new hires to refer friends and colleagues, and these types of partnerships can only further our efforts to attract great talent and diversity.”
