Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Arizona Executive Director Yvette Jackson, LMSW, DBH, was recently selected as one of Az Business magazine's 2024 “Most Influential Women in Arizona Business.

Jackson was named one of the “Most Influential Women” as a result of her more than 25 years of behavioral healthcare experience in the state. She will be honored during a celebration dinner on Aug. 22 in Phoenix.

“I am incredibly grateful and humbled to receive this award and to be recognized alongside so many other distinguished women leaders who are driving positive change and innovation within our state,” said Jackson. “This achievement not only reflects my own passion for the critical work we do every day, but also the tireless efforts of my dedicated team to make a positive impact in the lives of Arizona youth and families.”

In a news release announcing the “Most Influential Women,” Az Business Publisher Amy Lindsey noted, “Based on nominations, women who have been in the news over the past year and recommendations from former 'Most Influential Women,' there were nearly 1,900 women under consideration to be one of the 'Most Influential Women in Arizona Business' for 2024. The fact that we are more than a decade into the 'Most Influential Women' program and still have 1,900 women under consideration is a testament to the depth of female leadership we have in Arizona.”

Jackson's achievements

As Devereux Arizona's executive director, Jackson oversees the care and treatment of more than 4,500 children and adolescents each year. She joined Devereux in 1998 as a foster parent recruiter/trainer and, in 2002, was promoted to program manager of foster care services. In 2003, Jackson moved into the role of director of community-based services and, six years later, was promoted to assistant executive director. She assumed her current role in 2019.

Jackson is deeply committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB), and helps lead Devereux's DEIB efforts at the national level. She also is passionate in her support of the foster youth and LGBTQ+ populations.

Jackson is a faculty associate at Arizona State University, where she instructs graduate-level students in social work. She serves as vice chair of the Arizona Council of Human Service Providers Board of Directors and is a board member of the Tucson LGBT Chamber of Commerce Foundation. In 2015, she received the “Leadership in LGBTQ Health Care Award” from the Behavioral Health Coalition of Southern Arizona and the LGBT Consortium.

Jackson shared, “At Devereux Arizona, we are committed to transforming lives. Together, with my team, I look forward to continuing to ensure children and adolescents across the state receive the care and support they need to thrive.”
