The Approved Private School serves up to 80 students in nine classrooms, with eight to 10 students per classroom.

Homestead, PA – Sept. 3, 2024 – Today, Devereux/TCV Community Services, one of Allegheny County's most respected nonprofit organizations, opened the Devereux TCV Day Academy – Homestead, an Approved Private School (APS), in Homestead, Pennsylvania.

Devereux TCV Day Academy – Homestead offers high-quality, innovative special education programming, utilizing evidence-based interventions, for students in grades 1-12 with the following primary diagnoses: autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and behavior and mental health challenges.

The Approved Private School serves up to 80 students in nine classrooms, with eight to 10 students per classroom. Students are supported by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and have access to a mental health professional during school hours. The Day Academy holds a Private Academic License from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

“We are excited to provide students in the Mon Valley region with the educational services and specialized support they need to reach their full potential,” said Devereux/TCV Community Services Executive Director Fran Sheedy Bost, M.Ed., “At the Devereux TCV Day Academy – Homestead, we work in close partnership with families and local school districts to develop customized learning plans that build the academic, social and life skills students need to transition back to their home schools and communities. Through our individualized approach, we empower students to achieve their goals and thrive.”

School programming

Day Academy programing includes:

  • A comprehensive academic curriculum aligned with Pennsylvania Core Standards, as well as the curricula of partner school districts
  • School-Wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
  • Social and emotional learning instruction
  • Science, technology, engineering and mathematics offerings and activities

If your school district would like to send a referral to the Devereux TCV Day Academy – Homestead, please send an email to HomesteadReferrals@tcv.net and include the following information:

  • Student name, date of birth and grade level (required)
  • Documents for the admission team to review – most recent IEP, ER/RR (required)
  • Any educational records or information deemed relevant to the referral – psychiatric evaluation, attendance records, discipline records, health records, etc. (optional and/or as required)

The annual “Devereux Golf Cup” was a hole-in-one for Devereux Massachusetts and Rhode Island. More than 70 golfers hit the greens at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln, Rhode Island, for the event, which raised more than $35,000 for the organization’s therapeutic foster care program in Rhode Island.
