Teeing up for a good cause: 'Devereux Golf Cup' raises more than $35,000 for Devereux MA/RI

The annual “Devereux Golf Cup” was a hole-in-one for Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

More than 70 golfers hit the greens at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln, Rhode Island, for the event, which raised more than $35,000 for the organization's therapeutic foster care program in Rhode Island.

“This year's 'Devereux Golf Cup' was a resounding success! I want to thank our golfers, sponsors and volunteers for being a driving force behind our mission,” said Devereux MA/RI Executive Director Nadyia Abbas, M.A., CAGS, LMHC, LADC-I. “Funds generated from this event will be used to help ensure the youth enrolled in our therapeutic foster care program receive the care and support they need to overcome challenges, learn new skills and blossom into healthy, thriving individuals.”

The power of community

After the golf tournament, guests enjoyed a cocktail reception, featuring live entertainment and a silent auction. Top auction items included getaways to Newport, Rhode Island, and Cape Cod, Massachusetts, as well as golf equipment, bourbon and wine baskets, and original artwork.

Abbas noted, “Every year, it is incredibly humbling to witness the outpouring of kindness and generosity, and the power of those in our community, coming together to demonstrate their steadfast commitment to our organization and the individuals in our care.”
