About Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health California

Celebrating the past and present

What began in 1945 as the "Devereux Ranch School" is now the premier provider of programs and services for adults living with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences in the state of California.

Helena T. Devereux, special education pioneer and founder of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, wanted to expand Devereux’s programs and services on the West Coast after having established multiple schools and facilities in Pennsylvania. In 1945, Miss Devereux found an idea setting in the small town of Goleta, just outside of Santa Barbara, on the central coast of California. There, she established a school for children with disabilities.

Today, Devereux California is a thriving behavioral health treatment facility offering residential services, community living, day programs, and clinical services for individuals, ages 18 and older, with multiple diagnoses, including autism spectrum disorders, emotional and/or behavioral differences, intellectual and developmental disabilities, dementia and other cognitive disorders.

About Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit organizations providing services, insight and leadership in the evolving field of behavioral healthcare.
