Autism & Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities
For most, the challenge of earning a living or raising a family while caring for a child with special needs can be overwhelming. Often, families have exhausted their local resources and find that Devereux has the breadth of services to offer precisely what their loved one needs.
Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is a nationally recognized provider of behavioral health, intellectual/developmental disabilities and child welfare services. Founded over 100 years ago, Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is considered one the oldest and broadest nonprofit providers of behavioral healthcare in the United States, supporting children and adults with autism so they may have a fulfilling, productive and socially connected lives. Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Florida offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of individuals with autism and related intellectual/developmental disabilities ranging from; intensive residential treatment to community-based group homes, to our least restrictive Family Care Homes, located statewide.
The Devereux Viera Campus, located in Brevard County, provides intensive therapeutic services for individuals with more profound developmental disabilities. Children with symptoms of mental illness and developmental disabilities are provided with supports, skills and training to enable them to successfully transition to a less intensive supportive living environment. Additional programming is also available for individuals who have a predominant disability in expressive communication and display clear developmental delays and may require more intensive treatment.

Devereux’s Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Group Homes located in Orange and Brevard Counties offer intensive behavioral treatment grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis. These six to ten bed group homes serve individuals who have moderate to severe behavior challenges and/or significant deficits in adaptive skills and aim to prepare them for a less restrictive community setting.
An Adult Day Treatment Program is offered in Orange County for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The program model is based on the fundamental principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and unique opportunities to interact in the community through service projects. Services include community-based support and skill development in communications, social skills, self-care, work-readiness, vocational training, community-based employment experiences and instruction, service learning and volunteer activities.
Family Care Homes
Devereux’s Family Care Homes provide children and adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities an opportunity to reside in a family environment, as opposed to residential treatment and group homes. With individualized behavior programs, the needs of each individual are addressed by the Family Care parents who are licensed foster parents in the state of Florida and receive weekly monitoring and supervision by our Behavior Analysts. These homes are located throughout the state.
