Advisory Board News & Announcements

Devereux Georgia would like to congratulate Advisory Board member and LendingPoint, LLC Founder & CEO, Tom Burnside, as LendingPoint was named one of 2017’s Best Personal Loan Companies by U.S. News & World Report.

The support that LendingPoint provides to the community, including their partnership with Devereux Georgia, has also been substantial. In November 2017, LendingPoint was nominated by Devereux for the 2017 Sam Olens Business Community Service Award, an honor given by the Cobb Chamber and Georgia Trend magazine to a local business that serves the community.

Lending Point

Devereux received more than 800 pairs of socks in December, thanks to a drive organized by Advisory Board member, Monica Mora and her business partner, Maria Romero, of Roseberry Media. Ms. Mora and Ms. Romero promoted Devereux’s mission and shared the details of the sock drive through a social media campaign. Many thanks to Roseberry Media for their extraordinary support of our clients!

Events and Campus Activities

The holiday season was a magical time on our campus, thanks to the generosity of our numerous community partners. In addition to the many financial donations which were given to make the holidays special, many organizations, including the Catholic Church of St. Ann, For The Kid In All Of Us, Greater Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, LendingPoint, and the North Cobb Civitan Club, provided holiday gifts for our clients. We sincerely thank all of you for helping make the holidays so special for the 200+ children we serve!

Thomas Donovan served Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health as a trustee, friend, and benefactor for over two decades. Mr. Donovan believed “A caring culture, coupled with outstanding treatment, makes Devereux the unique and successful organization it is today.” In 2002, the Devereux Board of Trustees established the Thomas Donovan Culture of Caring Award to honor and carry on Devereux’s commitment to that hallmark. The “Thomas Donovan Culture of Caring Award” is presented, annually, to a direct care staff member at each Devereux center whose performance embodies the qualities espoused by Mr. Donovan.

It was an honor for Devereux Georgia to present this prestigious award to Takalatiesha (Taka) Smith during our holiday program on December 7. Taka began her career with Devereux in April of 2010, as a Direct Support Professional. In July 2011, she was promoted into a Team Lead position where her leadership abilities continued to develop, and she was subsequently promoted into the position of Assistant Campus Supervisor in April of 2015. Most recently, Taka accepted the position of Administrative Specialist in a dual role supporting Milieu and Quality Improvement. Taka is always willing to help others, and her example and enthusiasm inspire all of those around her to do their best. Congratulations, Taka!
