“Every child needs and deserves to know what it’s like to be part of a loving family that won’t give up on them so they can become physically and emotionally healthy and happy adults,” said Devereux Massachusetts and Rhode Island Therapeutic Foster Care Regional Director Danielle Gallagher, M.Ed., LMHC.
Finding a forever family
Each year, the Children’s Bureau launches a National Adoption Month campaign highlighting the need to find permanent homes for children in the U.S. foster care system.
According to the most recent Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System data, there are more than 420,000 children in foster care in the U.S., and more than 120,000 children waiting to be adopted (nearly 14,000 are 15 to 17 years old).
