About Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Georgia

A Place of Hope

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Georgia was established in Cobb County Georgia in 1973 at the invitation of Governor Jimmy Carter and for more than 40 years has been providing new hopes, new dreams, and new choices for children, adolescents and young adults struggling with emotional and behavioral health challenges. We are part of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, which has been providing treatment, education and vocational services for more than 100 years. Devereux is one of the nation's largest not-for-profit behavioral health organizations, giving Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Georgia access to national experts from across the country.

It is important to know that mental disorders are common among children. In fact, just over 20 percent, or 1 in 5 children, will have a serious mental health disorder at some point in their life. The good news is that treatment works. There are many residential treatment facilities, so how do you decide which is the right treatment approach for your child and your family? Often, parents and caregivers aren't sure where to turn for help. At Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Georgia, we use specialized supports and services to develop personalized plans to meet the specific treatment and educational needs of the individual child, with a focus on the underlying issues behind their emotional disturbance. We know that everyone who surrounds the child is impacted, especially the family. For this reason, a balanced life style is the primary treatment goal, and we teach children to lead a meaningful life in their home, school and community, and help families mend. If this is your goal, Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Georgia is a good choice.

Every parent and caregiver wants to know that they have secured the best treatment option available for their child. Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Georgia is accredited by The Joint Commission and is state-licensed. All of our counselors are licensed and experienced in numerous treatment options, such as drug and alcohol addiction, trauma, aggression replacement and inappropriate sexual boundaries. Emotional disturbance isolates the child and the family.

At Devereux, we use individual, group and family therapy coupled with a fully accredited school to create a therapeutic community where children can experience success in the social and educational setting. They thrive.

We know that through appropriate identification, evaluation, and treatment, children and adolescents experiencing emotional and behavioral health challenges can recover and lead the productive life that every parent envisions for their child. They can achieve success in school, in work and in family life. That is our mission and that is our expertise.
