SERVICE DELIVERY METHODSSystems-Level Service DeliverySystems-level service delivery is an approach that focuses on the environmental contexts within which students interact daily. These contexts include the classroom, the school as a whole, the larger district, the home/family setting, and the broader community. Addressing the needs of the systems surrounding the student allows for a greater impact on student outcomes. For example, by providing behavioral supports at the classroom-level, all of the students in the classroom are more likely to succeed. The CES offers a variety of systems-level services. TrainingThe CES provides training to educators who are working toward systems-level reform. Whether it be the general education or special education classroom setting, the lunchroom, or even the entire school, the CES consultants have the knowledge, expertise, and experience to deliver trainings on skills that can improve learning and reduce disciplinary infractions. The CES consultants tailor the content of the training to meet the needs of your setting. The CES delivers one-day workshops and provides consultation to support the implementation of skills delivered during trainings.
Consultation and Technical AssistanceThe CES provides targeted supports to help with the implementation of evidence-based practices. These targeted supports range from simple to complex strategies developed in partnership with your organization to assist staff in regularly applying best practices. Simple strategies include the development of systems for prompts and reminders, structured schedules, and practice guides for curriculum implementation. More complex consultation strategies include regular check-ins, observations, and the use of performance feedback to coach staff toward improved implementation. Through consultation practices, the CES team applies the use of data-based decision making to support you in examining needs, monitoring progress, and evaluating outcomes. Product DevelopmentThe CES develops training packages and intervention programs to address the needs of students, staff, and families in school-based settings. AssessmentSystems-Level Program Evaluation and Action PlanningThe CES offers program evaluations to schools, programs, and other child-serving settings to examine existing practices and outcomes. The CES consultants will design the evaluation components with administration to determine the program evaluation package. Following the program evaluation, the CES consultants collaborate with your team to interpret the program evaluation and determine next steps to help you meet your goals. Program evaluations may include interviews with administrators and staff, classroom observations, custom-designed surveys to examine unique needs, record reviews, and assessments of fidelity to positive behavioral interventions and supports. Individual Student Assessment and ConsultationAssessment and consultation services are offered to school-based teams and family members to enhance the educational services for all students. The CES consultants employ a function-based, problem-solving approach to assess students’ needs and design effective, evidence-based interventions for students with a variety of concerns, including:
AREAS OF EXPERTISEMulti-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)The CES provides training and consultation on the implementation of MTSS, including school-wide positive behavior support (SWPBIS), in schools and early childhood settings. The development and implementation of MTSS frameworks focuses on prevention of problem behavior and the development of social-emotional skills for all students, with the addition of targeted and intensive interventions for students who demonstrate a need for more supports. The types of support at each tier are developed in collaboration with your team to meet the needs of your students and your setting. Multiple outcome studies and randomized controlled trials have found SWPBIS to be an effective approach for reducing discipline referrals and out-of-school suspensions, and for improving the overall “health” or climate of the organization. Behavior Support and Trauma-Informed PracticesThe CES consultants are experts in supporting staff to be prepared to manage students’ behavior needs and the effects of traumatic life experiences. Areas of expertise in behavior and trauma-informed practices include, but are not limited to, the following:
Social-Emotional Learning, Mental Health, and Behavior Intervention ProgramsThe CES consultants provide training and/or implementation supports for many curricula that aim to improve students’ social-emotional skills, mental health, and behavior. These programs are identified below.
