Residential Services

Devereux California provides services and support to individuals, ages 18 through lifespan, using positive and evidence-based practices that are reliant upon the highest standards offered today in the field of behavioral healthcare for adults with disabilities. Our residential programs and services include:

  • 24-hour direct care professional staffing in a licensed facility
  • Person-centered care for all individuals
  • Skilled nursing (Weisman Center)
  • Medical oversight and nursing support
  • Housekeeping, meal preparation and home maintenance
  • Health, wellness and exercise opportunities
  • Family or guardian participation in person-centered planning
  • Recreation

Devereux’s Advanced Philosophy of Care reflects the uniqueness of each individual and his or her aspirations in life. The guiding principles mandate effective and accountable services, as well as beneficial communication and skill-building.

Devereux California’s residential programs examine how to develop and sustain learning, self- discovery and life skills for each individual in our care. By addressing the whole individual, Devereux clinicians also are effective at eliminating obstacles that can interfere with an individual’s capacity to achieve his or her optimal life from their own perspective.

Casa Feliz (ages 18+)

Casa Feliz is a beautiful, seven-bed adult residential facility that serves men and women, age 18 and older, with multiple diagnoses. This program focuses on helping individuals improve their quality of life and achieve goals, such as securing placement in a supported living setting or transitioning to a less restrictive environment. Therapeutic groups are provided as needed or appropriate.

The program centers on educating residents and helping them maintain positive social behaviors and life skills that promote individual self-esteem. Recreation and independent living skills programs are an important part of life at Casa Feliz.

Weisman Center RCFE (ages 59 +)

Weisman Center is a residential care facility for the elderly that serves both men and women, age 59 and older. The capacity of this warm, caring home is 15 people. The goal of Weisman is to maintain an excellent quality of life for an aging population. Maintaining skills, functioning and good health are all promoted.

The program has full-time nursing staff to assist in the maintenance of each individual’s physical health. Our highly skilled staff provide a variety of choices in activities to empower residents, while still providing a high degree of structure. Weisman Center encourages residents to make choices about their activities of daily living; develop lifestyles, skills and interests; and increase independent use of community resources when possible. This home supports individuals with behavioral and medical challenges. 

Somerset Autism Home (ages 18 +) 

Somerset is a five-bed adult residential facility in a community-based setting. This home serves individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder who also have moderate to severe behavioral challenges and/or significant deficits in adaptive skills. Somerset aims to prepare individuals to become productive, socially-connected members of their local communities.

Residents receive on-site behavior analysis services, medical case management, medication monitoring, independent living skills training, and community inclusion activities.

Our highly skilled multidisciplinary team is trained in Safe and Positive Approaches. Staff foster a homelike environment that motivates each individual toward independence, while still providing a highly structured behavioral setting with 24-hour supervision. 

Foothill Home (ages 18+) 

Foothill Home is a four-bedroom enhanced behavioral supports home located in Santa Barbara. Opened in 2019, Foothill Home is designed to provide care for those who are transitioning to the community from state developmental centers or out-of-state placements, or for those who require enhanced levels of care.

This home serves individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder who may have additional medical or behavioral health concerns. Depending upon individual needs and personal program plans, residents can receive up to one-on-one care from highly trained direct support professionals.

Foothill Home has a milieu structured around the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) framework, with a skills development plan tailored to meet each resident’s needs and preferences. The primary goal is to have individuals live in a welcoming learning environment that helps them lead productive, happy and engaged lives within the broader community.

Tularosa (ages 18+) 

Tularosa is a three-bed adult residential facility in a community-based setting. This home serves individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders who also have moderate to severe behavioral challenges and/or significant deficits in adaptive skills. Tularosa’s program aims to provide person-centered services to individuals with autism that will support each individual in becoming a productive, socially connected, and personally fulfilled member of his or her local community.

Respite (ages 18+) 

Devereux California offers short-term residential respite for up to 21 days. At Casa Feliz, we are able to support individuals whose families or caregivers require a break and want their loved one to be cared for in a safe, structured environment. During the respite stay, Devereux California staff will provide the same supervision, skill-building opportunities and social activities that are provided to all of our residents.
