Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

At Devereux, we believe a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is fundamental to providing the highest quality healthcare services. Through open dialogue and the creation of brave spaces, we will engage in anti-discriminatory work that promotes an equitable and inclusive organization for employees, community partners and those we serve.

Devereux has committed to a multi-year, organizational transformation related to the issues of diversity, equity and inclusion. We consider this a critical component to the fulfillment of our mission, as well as the promise of our Family Standard. Our DEI effort is led by a Steering Committee comprised of members of Devereux’s senior leadership team, as well as a diverse group of team members from across the country to ensure both forward momentum and regional relevancy.

In September 2020, Devereux partnered with Lion’s Story, which prepares individuals and organizations to navigate and resolve racially charged situations using research-based strategies. Lion’s Story was founded by Dr. Howard C. Stevenson, a nationally recognized clinical psychologist and researcher on negotiating racial conflicts using racial literacy. Devereux formally launched its organizational transformation for 7,500+ team members in November 2020 with a virtual workshop featuring Dr. Stevenson, who shared strategies to reduce, recast and resolve the stress of in-the-moment, face-to-face racial encounters.

We invite you to look below to read stories about our ongoing DEI efforts, as well as communications from Devereux’s senior leadership team about our commitment to combatting racism.
