Devereux MA/RI 2018 Gala and Auction a huge success

The Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Massachusetts and Rhode Island center’s annual “Gala & Auction,” held this spring in Worcester, Massachusetts, set a record for the organization’s premier fundraising event. Featuring live entertainment, fantastic food, dancing and a live auction for the 10th anniversary of this event, the Gala generated more than $270,000, which represents a 20 percent increase in sponsorships and a 30 percent increase in live auction results.

Proceeds will benefit the youth served at Devereux Massachusetts and Rhode Island and will advance the organization’s mission of unlocking and nurturing human potential in people living with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences.

“We are humbled by the tremendous acts of generosity that helped propel this year’s Gala to record levels,” said Tracy Wells of The Hanover Insurance Group and Gala co-chair. “This is further validation of the important role Devereux plays in our community. We would like to thank our sponsors, donors, Gala attendees, and the planning committee for making this 10th anniversary a memorable occasion and an all-around special event.”

“As a Devereux parent, the outpouring of support at the Gala is deeply moving on a personal level,” added Gala co-chair Linda Birkhaeuser. “I hope everyone involved understands they are helping to change the lives of young people and families who face tremendous challenges. I wish I could thank them all, individually and personally.”

Smashing records

This year’s event surpassed the record set in 2017 by more than 15 percent; total Gala proceeds over the past 10 years have exceeded $2 million.

“The Devereux Massachusetts/Rhode Island Gala & Auction is about building community awareness and support for the youth in our care. Specifically, event proceeds support our efforts to provide the best treatment and education to meet the evolving needs of individuals who come to us for care,” said Kerry Ann Goldsmith, executive director of Devereux Massachusetts and Rhode Island. “On behalf of the board and staff of Devereux, I want to express our gratitude to everyone who contributed to this year’s event it really makes a significant and positive impact.”

Goldsmith says planning for the 2019 Gala & Auction is already underway.
