Devereux Kanner - Professional Services
Devereux's clinical and professional staff are involved with each individual prior to their participation in any Devereux program. Each customized program begins with a comprehensive needs assessment, integrating a thorough review of previous records, conducting standardized assessments, interviews and behavioral observations. These are compiled into Devereux's clinical core record and treatment planning process. Our multi-disciplinary team, driven by the Devereux Social Services Coordinator, carries out the assessment process. The team could consist of some or all of the following: social workers, caregivers or guardians, psychiatrists, mental health professionals, teachers, occupational and speech therapists, treatment managers and other professional staff as needed.

The assessment process clarifies the specific role of team members in providing services. The treatment plan is individualized to meet each person's needs and is called the Individual Support Plan (ISP). Emphasis is on developing a functional curriculum that focuses on building new skills and creating environments to promote success. Programming is monitored through a clinical team and administrative review procedures. Devereux works with community and national resources through Devereux's Institute of Clinical Training & Research (ICTR), utilizing a "Best Practice" model to benefit individuals. Devereux assessment and treatment planning focuses on promoting self-determination, improving quality of life, and developing transition plans that prepare individuals for future success.
Counseling
Therapeutic counseling is available to all Devereux Kanner residents, either as a part of their program, or as a fee for service option. The services are provided by professionals which may include: Psychologists, Marriage, Family and Children Counselors (MFCC), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) or supervised interns.
Treatment Team
The Treatment Team consists of the student, Treatment Manager, Social Services Coordinator, Clinician, Educator, Psychiatrist, and family and/or agencies. The Social Services Coordinator provides case management and serves as the liaison between the Devereux Kanner, families and/or agencies.
Mental Health & Medical Services
Devereux Kanner's medical department is located on the campus and provides medical, nursing, dental and psychiatric services. Routine health care is delivered on-campus by physicians, and consultation referrals to community doctors are made for more specific needs (i.e. dermatology, orthopedic needs, etc.). Chester County Hospital is an available resource within five minutes of our campus. Devereux dentists provide routine prophylaxis and dental care on-campus or a family may choose to use their own dentist.

Additional outside services (laboratory, x-ray, pharmacy etc.) are available to assist in diagnosing or treating existing conditions. Services provided by the dentist as well as outside healthcare providers are billed directly to Medicaid or private insurance.
Ancillary Services
Each Devereux student receives a Speech, Language and Hearing Screening which may suggest the need for further evaluation and/or treatment. Speech and Language services are delivered in a variety of models.
