| Nicky and Jen | Gloria Satriale, mother of Nicky, approached then Executive Director of the Devereux Kanner Center, Maureen Fallon-Walsh, with the prospect of starting a small center-based day school for young children with autism. Devereux Kanner and regional management were excited by the proposal. Consequently, Devereux and Mrs. Satriale formed a development committee which entered into one and one-half years of energetic planning. On September 29, 1997, two months following the hire of CARES Director, Wesley Todd Hickman, the school opened its doors to the first 6 students. |
