Cathy Maher has been on staff at the Institute of Clinical Training & Research since 1993 and currently serves as director of Direct Care Training Resources. She is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and received her Master of Education degree from Temple University. She began her career at Devereux 30 years ago and gained direct care and supervisory experiences working in a residential treatment setting that served individuals with developmental and emotional disorders. Prior to joining ICTR, Cathy assumed a corporate role in Devereux Human Resources national training and development department.
Cathy has extensive experience in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of training programs and resources. She has developed and conducted a wide range of basic and train-the-trainer programs for human service, educational, behavioral healthcare and juvenile justice professionals. Cathy is the principal developer of Devereux CP/I and is a co-author of New Directions: Essential Skills for Direct Care Professionals as well as The Supervision of CP/I. She serves as Devereux's lead instructor-trainer for crisis prevention and intervention and was a participating member of the Child Welfare League's 2003 National Task Force on Behavior Support and Intervention Training. Cathy's primary areas of interest include the reduction and elimination of restraints, active training methodologies and the supportive behavioral supervision of direct care/direct support staff. She has worked with more than 100 agencies nationwide.

Gina Burgess came to the Direct Care Training Resources team in 2005 from the Devereux Whitlock Center. She earned a bachelor's degree with distinction in organizational management from Eastern College. Her career at Devereux spans more than 25 years and includes direct care and supervisory experience in a variety of treatment settings serving youth and adults with developmental and emotional disorders. Gina served as a coordinator of staff training and development at Devereux Whitlock and has conducted a multitude of training programs for direct care, supervisory and clinical staff.
Gina has extensive experience conducting internal and external trainings in Devereux CP/I, New Directions: Essential Skills for Direct Care Professionals and QPR for Suicide Prevention. She is also a co-author of The Supervision of CP/I. Gina's primary areas of interest lie in suicide prevention, cultural competency, and the professionalization of direct care/direct support staff. Gina is a participating member of P.R.I.M.E. (Partners Reaching to Improve Multicultural Effectiveness), a state-wide cultural competency initiative, and co-chairs Devereux's national clinical cultural diversity task force. Gina is also a member of the Chester County (PA) Youth Suicide Prevention Task force and chairs the youth suicide prevention/intervention sub-committee.

Pat Hart joined the Direct Care Training Resources Team in July 2007. She is a graduate of The University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. Pat has worked in the behavioral healthcare field for more than 25 years in various treatment settings with diverse client populations. Her Devereux career includes her role as program supervisor at the Devereux Mapleton Center in addition to her prior position as coordinator of training and staff development at the Devereux Kanner Center.
Pat's particular interest in child abuse prevention and the related societal concerns of drug and alcohol abuse stem from her early experience as a children and youth caseworker. During her career, she has served in both direct care and supervisory positions. These roles have led to her commitment to staff training and development as a critical component in the delivery of quality care and treatment to the individuals served.
Pat has extensive experience developing and conducting training programs for direct care, supervisory and clinical staff, and is a certified trainer in Devereux CP/I, New Directions: Essential Skills for Direct Care Professionals, and QPR for Suicide Prevention.

Stacy L. Hunt joined the Direct Care Training Resources team in November 2008. Stacy graduated from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and she earned a Master of Science in organizational development from American International College in Springfield, MA. After graduation, she spent most of her career development following human resources and organizational development/training.
Stacy is serving as the primary point of contact for internal and external customers. In addition, she is responsible for coordinating registration information and corresponding with trainers, coordinating the planning and delivery of our programs, database management, website development and the creation of promotional materials and resources for direct care staff training. | | |
