Activity Therapy

Providing fun and healthy recreational activities is an important part of the successful treatment of our youth. Our activity therapy department consists of licensed Recreation Therapists. At Devereux we focus on building confidence, teaching the fundamentals of physical activities, leisure education, exercise physiology, social interaction skills, team building, independent living skill and development of positive coping skills through intervention modalities such as sports, adventure programming, music, games, relaxation techniques, creative arts, social events, and community outings.

Recreation opportunities include

  • Fishing
  • Field games (softball, kickball, etc)
  • Basketball
  • Cookouts
  • Movie Nights
  • Volleyball
  • Tennis
  • Team Building Games
  • Arts/Crafts
  • Board Games
  • Intramural Sports
  • Fitness training
  • Weekly social events for each age group (parties, harvest dance, ice cream social, open mic night, etc.)

When youth achieve higher levels, they can participate in off campus activities such as sporting events, roller skating, movies, zoo, circus, Six Flags, and bowling.
