Georgia NewsletterseNewsletter - February 2017Advisory Board News and AnnouncementsOn January 30, 2017, Executive Director, Gwen Skinner and Medical Director, Dr. Yolanda Graham, were presented with a donation from the proceeds of the Marietta Country Club ThanksGiving Golf Tournament held this past November. The contribution, presented by MCC Golf Committee members, Cec Dunn (also of the Devereux Georgia Advisory Board), Steve Fisher, Charlie Leonard, and Bill Dallas, will fund the Neurofeedback Therapy Program -- a FDA approved intervention designed to re-train the brain to function more efficiently. Devereux Georgia is incredibly grateful for Advisory Board and MCC members, Cec Dunn and Joe Glancy, who were instrumental in creating the partnership between the MCC and Devereux. Dr. Graham looks forward to the opportunity to treat more children through this additional treatment modality.
Events and Campus ActivitiesDevereux is excited to be part of the Daffodil Project a worldwide project with a goal of planting 1.5 million daffodils in memory of the 1.5 million children who perished in the Holocaust and in support of children suffering in humanitarian crises in the world today. This past fall, several students planted daffodil bulbs in our first commemorative garden in honor and remembrance of the victims and survivors of the Holocaust. Recently, Andrea Miskewicz of the KSU Museum of History and Holocaust Education, visited Ms. Elizabeth Planos' class and shared an interactive Holocaust educational program. On March 22nd, students, staff, and guests, will participate in Devereux Daffodil Day events and dedication ceremony of our first commemorative daffodil garden. In the future, daffodil beds will be planted throughout our 40-acre campus.
