Gala Information
This year marked the most significant milestone in Devereux’s history - our 100th Anniversary. The year culminated with a grand anniversary, black-tie gala hosted by the Mayor of Philadelphia, The Honorable Michael A. Nutter, at the Philadelphia Museum of Art on November 10, 2012. Over 1,000 members of the Devereux family gathered together in the heart of Philadelphia where our founder, Helena T. Devereux began this extraordinary organization with precocious wisdom, strength of character and commitment.
As Devereux turns 100, it is a new day of openness and support for so many children and adults, in part because of the work of Miss Devereux. America offers a culture of greater openness, communication and sharing for at-risk youth and people with developmental disabilities. At this anniversary milestone, Devereux has an opportunity to promote even broader acceptance of the issues that affect so many American families - to tell the story of how early intervention and positive support can help, and to educate the public about how every individual can benefit from building emotional resilience.
Peruse the site to watch Devereux A Centennial History, a short film produced by Sam Katz, and view beautiful photographs taken at the event!
