Residential Treatment Program
DGTN, a 187-bed facility located on a lovely rural site not far from Atlanta, offers troubled male and female youth individualized treatment programs based on strengths and potential as well as diagnosis. A multidisciplinary approach to utilizing an individually prescribed continuum of treatment from a secure intensive unit to open residential treatment is offered, permitting youth to complete all levels of care within one facility. An on-campus educational program provides regular and special educational classes to meet individual needs. Devereux treatment plans emphasize learning from the successes of today, rather than reliving the failures of the past. Every experience throughout each day is planned as therapeutic, and every day is planned to resemble that of a normal, healthy adolescent. Through this innovative program, adolescents have time to internalize change, to develop self-discipline and self-esteem, and to practice newly acquired personal and social skills. Devereux youth return to society as emotionally stable, vocationally able young citizens.
MR/DD (Males)
Designed to serve youth diagnosed with mild mental retardation and co-occurring emotional/behavioral disorders in a self-contained, safe environment. A multidisciplinary, behavioral model is used to promote the stabilization of risk behaviors, acquisition of new coping skills, and prevention of maladaptive behaviors.
Sexual Trauma Recovery (Females)
Provides specialized, focused treatment in a safe, nurturing, self-contained environment to facilitate the recovery process for young women who have experienced sexual trauma. Multidisciplinary treatment is focused on behavioral manifestations of surviving abuse and post traumatic stress.
Horizons Program Unit (Sexual Disorders Treatment)
Provides a self-contained, safe environment to meet the specific treatment needs of male adolescents exhibiting sexually reactive and sexual offending behaviors and cannot adequately function in a less restrictive setting. Upon successful completion of treatment, transitional and step-down services are available on the Intensive, Honors and Transition units.
Pre-Adolescent Programs- Discovery Program Unit
Designed to meet the needs of the emerging male and female adolescent placing emphasis upon individual responsibility within the context of the group milieu, empowering residents to have direct input into the levels and privileges granted to the individual members.
